Is December a good time to sell my house?
The summer seems long behind us now, and the weather is growing colder every day. We are all getting ready for the winter months, putting away the lawn furniture, servicing the snow blowers and getting out the winter coats. I don’t mind winter; I love the idea a snowstorm and a roaring fire. But I dislike shoveling that snow and my soaring heat bill!
I often find when the weather starts to turn, my clients tend to change their plans too. They think they should wait until the New Year to sell or buy. Some even consider waiting until the spring market comes around before resuming their plans. Don’t let the cold weather change anything! Capitalize on the winter months and the Christmas Holidays. Don’t put plans on hold like the competition. The winter can be a great time to sell or buy.
We all love the memories and nostalgia the holidays bring. Why not showcase your homes holiday charm and warmth. The beautiful Christmas tree, decorated hearth, baked goods in the kitchen and the dining room ready for a festive get together. Buyers will connect with the atmosphere you create and allow themselves a glimpse of their own memories to come.
Don’t worry if you can’t list for the Christmas season, there is still plenty of winter to take advantage of and lots of features in your home. The warmth of the fireplace or the fun to be had in the hot tub. Create an inviting space to curl up with a blanket, a good book, and a mug of tea. Do you have an outdoor playground in your back-yard, or close by? Show potential buyers what life would be like with winter activities at their back door.
- Corporate Relocations often happen during the winter
- Lower inventory
- Less competition means more opportunities
- Motivation – buyers, seller and agents are serious (tire kickers tend to take the winters off)
- Curb Appeal is easier to maintain (you do have to shovel the snow!)
- New Parents and growing families realize they need more space.
Don’t miss this opportunity to take advantage of less competition.
If you’re considering a move, let’s talk about a plan for you.
